How to Slow the Aging Process - Look and Feel Younger!

When we talk about the aging process, there is no doubt that all of us at some time realize that we are growing old and that the signs of old age appear with regularity. It happens to everyone of us and it is amazing how quickly it happens. It seems almost in the blink of an eye. However, the way we look after our bodies can have an enormous bearing on how we look as we grow old.

Studies that have been conducted show that people age in different ways and that aging can be attributed to genetics and the environment in which we spend our lives. Further studies have shown that your genes only make up a small part of an individual's aging process. Other factors to have a profound bearing on the aging process include diet, exercise (mind and body) and a purpose in life. The good news is there are still many things we can do in the anti-aging process.

I am sure you have often wondered why it is that there are people in their 80's who look fit and healthy, not only in the way they appear but also in mind alertness. Quite often these people can have sharper minds than others 20 or 30 years younger. There is no doubt that diet has played an important part in the way they are aging.

Your diet is a very important section of the anti-aging process. The fact is, if we do not consume the correct foods our bodies cannot function at a high level. If we combine our eating habits with the necessary amount of exercise, our bodies can be kept in good condition and consequently we will feel more energized and even look younger.

Your effort should be focused on reducing the amount of red meat you are including in your diet and at the same time increasing the volume of vegetables, nuts and fruit. Ideally, to begin the change, the main portion of the meal should consist of vegetables and the smaller portion should be the meat section. This is in contrast to most western countries.

Although diet plays a huge part in the aging process, it is just as important to include some form of exercise in your daily routine. A minimum of thirty minutes a day is a good start. Walking is great way to increase your fitness. Try short walks to begin with and gradually extend the distance as you feel more confident.

Aging is a fact of life that none of us can escape. However, we can all do something about slowing the process. If you have neglected your body in the past, now is the time to change.

A wise man once said "There is nothing we can do about our yesterdays but there is something we can do about our tomorrows."
